Ron Rivera "excited" by Kelvin Benjamin progress

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera admits that he is "excited" to see where rookie wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin is heading.

Ron Rivera has revealed that he is "excited" to see where Kelvin Benjamin is heading since he joined the Carolina Panthers last month.

The NFC South side selected the wide receiver in the first round of the Draft with the eighth overall pick.

The head coach told The AP: "You draft him for a specific skill set. He can become a threat in the red zone and a threat for you on third down and have an immediate impact doing those things for us.

"It was good to see him do those things and good to see him work with Cam [Newton] as well. I'm excited as to where he's heading and what he can become for us."

In the 2013 college football season, Benjamin had 1,011 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns for the Florida State Seminoles.
