Ted Ginn Jr enjoying greater offensive role

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr says that he is happy to be playing a greater offensive role this season.

Ted Ginn Jr has said that he is enjoying playing a greater offensive role with the Carolina Panthers.

The wide receiver was used as a kick return specialist at the San Francisco 49ers ahead of his move to the NFC South side during the off-season.

The 28-year-old told the Panthers' website: "When I came to Carolina I had a burden on me. I just wanted to get it off. I knew I could play punt return and kickoff return, but I always wanted to be more involved in the offense.

"That was something they told me I was going to have a shot at. I took their word for it. I take the top off the defense. Being able to do that opens things up for everybody. That's what it is about. You know your role. You know who you are."

Ginn has 143 receiving yards and two touchdowns so far this season.
