Tavaris Jackson released by Buffalo Bills

Quarterback Tavaris Jackson is released by the Buffalo Bills following the franchise's organised team activities.

The Buffalo Bills have announced that they have released quarterback Tavaris Jackson.

The 27-year-old re-signed with the team earlier this year, having been traded to Buffalo from the Seattle Seahawks in 2012.

Jackson had split the workload with Kevin Kolb during the team's organised team activities in recent weeks.

Rookie quarterback EJ Manuel, who was a first-round pick in the Draft, will compete for the starting role with Kolb.
