Strong defensive display helps Panthers to win

The Carolina Panthers' defense scored three touchdowns as they beat the Baltimore Ravens 34-27 in pre-season.

The Super Bowl champions claimed an early lead through a Ray Rice rushing touchdown, but Ted Ginn Jr was able to find the end zone with a 74-yard punt return later in the first quarter.

Cornerback Drayton Florence intercepted a Joe Flacco pass to put the NFC South side ahead, before Thomas Davis returned a fumble for another Panthers score.

Ravens backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor saw DJ Moore return his interception for a touchdown late in the third quarter.

Damien Berry got the AFC North side back into the game late on with a 10-yard run, but it was not enough to prevent Baltimore slipping to their first defeat of the pre-season.
