Baltimore Ravens: 'Luck plays big role in Draft'

Baltimore Ravens assistant general manager Eric DeCosta says that teams require an element of luck to be successful in the Draft.

Baltimore Ravens assistant general manager Eric DeCosta has admitted that there is a "lot of luck" involved in doing well in the NFL Draft.

DeCosta said that the Ravens work on the premise that the more picks you earn or trade then the more chance the team has to unearth a gem.

"I think there is a lot of luck with the Draft," he told the club's official website. "We try to make it a science. In the end, it's probably more art than science.

"That's why we value picks as much as we do. The more picks you have, the more chance you have of getting lucky on a guy."

The Ravens picked safety Matt Elam in the first round of last year's Draft.
