Ed Dickson hoping to play in Baltimore Ravens' opening game

Baltimore Ravens tight end Ed Dickson is hopeful that he will recover from a hamstring injury in time for the start of the 2013 NFL season.

Ed Dickson has confirmed that he is hoping to be fit in time for the Baltimore Ravens' opening game of the 2013 NFL season.

The tight end returned to practice with the Super Bowl champions yesterday, having sustained a minor hamstring tear earlier this month.

The 26-year-old told the team's website: "When you first get out there you want to test it a little bit. I wanted to open it up, but they told me to be smart. They had me do a little individual [work]. I'm just going by the rules and making sure I don't re-aggravate it.

"I couldn't say. I can't say I am going to be able to go. I can't say I'm not going to be able to go. I just know I'm training my hardest to get out there week one. I don't want to leave my team out there any longer than I have to."

The Ravens begin the regular season against the Denver Broncos.
