Half-Time Report: Washington Redskins come from behind to lead

The Washington Redskins come from 14-0 down to lead the Atlanta Falcons 20-17 at half time of their NFL clash.

The Washington Redskins have come from 14-0 down to lead the Atlanta Falcons 20-17 at the halfway stage of their NFL match.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the first quarter when Steven Jackson powered his way over the line from three yards, knocking Josh Wilson out of the way with ease.

The hosts extended this advantage later in the quarter when Tony Gonzalez collected Matt Ryan's pass before quickly changing direction to elude three defenders and jog into the endzone.

The Redskins got a score back before the end of the quarter as Kirk Cousins, in for the rested Robert Griffin III, threw a fine 23-yard pass to pick out Fred Davis in the endzone.

Atlanta edged further into the lead with the first score of the second quarter, Matt Bryant slotting a field goal between the posts from 20 yards.

Washington moved back to within three points of the Falcons with 6:44 left of the half when Cousins threw a deep pass over the shoulder of Pierre Garcon, who had a clear run into the endzone for a 53-yard touchdown.

The Redskins then drew level with less than a minute to go of the half as Kai Forbath kicked a 33-yard field goal to make it 17-17, before another Forbath kick, this time from 37 yards, gave the visitors a slender lead at the break.
