Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer believes that Tyrann Mathieu is a similar player to the Pittsburgh Steelers' Troy Polamalu.

Carson Palmer has compared Tyrann Mathieu to seven-time Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Arizona Cardinals signed the former LSU safety earlier this year, having used their third-round Draft pick to acquire him.

The quarterback told Sports Illustrated: "He reminds [me] of Troy Polamalu with his closing speed.

"He might not be the fastest guy out there, but he can change directions and get to the ball really fast, like Troy."

Mathieu was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2011.
