Half-Time Report: Arizona Cardinals edge ahead of St Louis Rams in first half

Cardinals earn slender lead in St Louis

The Arizona Cardinals have taken a 6-3 lead into the half-time interval of their meeting with the St Louis Rams at the Edward Jones Dome.

Drew Stanton and Shaun Hill both struggled to connect with their receivers in a first half dominated by both sets of defences.

After Stanton's opening drive with the Cardinals ended with a punt, the Rams took the lead when Greg Zuerlein converted with a 24-yard field goal attempt.

The Rams continued to hold firm to frustrate Stanton and the Cardinals, who could only level the scores early in the second quarter when Chandler Catanzaro split the posts from 44 yards.

A second field goal from Catanzaro edged the Cardinals in front with just over eight minutes remaining to put the pressure on the home side heading into the break.
