Declan McKenna beating Rolling Stones in albums chart battle

Young singer-songwriter Declan McKenna is leading The Rolling Stones in the race for this week's UK albums number one.

Young singer-songwriter Declan McKenna is currently ahead of veterans The Rolling Stones in the battle for this week's albums chart number one, according to data from the Official Charts Company.

The 21-year-old's second studio album, Zeros, is on course to top the number 11 peak achieved by his 2017 debut What Do You Think About The Car?

Based on the first 72 hours of sales, the Stones' re-release of Goats Head Soup is tracking at two, some 47 years after it topped the chart - and led the way over the weekend in terms of downloads.

Electronic duo Hurts' first album in three years, Faith, is currently fifth in the chart, one spot behind last week's number one, Nines' Crabs In A Bucket.

Elsewhere, Billy Ocean is at six in the midweeks with his first release in seven years, One World.
