Phillip Schofield says that his wife Stephanie Lowe was "very, very angry" when he told her about his affair with a runner on This Morning.

Phillip Schofield has revealed that he did not tell his wife about his affair with a young male colleague on This Morning until recently.

The 61-year-old left ITV after confessing to having a relationship with a man in his 20s, who worked as a runner on the daytime show, having previously assured his bosses that it had not been the case.

Schofield has been married to Stephanie Lowe since 1993 but came out as gay in early 2020, after which the pair separated but remained close.

As the allegations became public last month, however, he came clear to her about his liaisons with his colleague.

"She got off a plane and I phoned her up and texted saying, 'I need to talk to you'," Schofield told The Sun.

"She called back and I told her. She was very, very angry."

He added: "She is very, very angry but we spoke today. And my daughters were unbelievable.

"They are without question, our greatest asset. I always say 'our', but from a father's point of view, my greatest asset are my girls."

Schofield has also issued an apology to the young man concerned, as well as his former co-host Holly Willoughby, for his handling of the affair.
