ITV is reportedly developing a reboot of the classic '80s gameshow Bullseye with Paddy McGuinness as the potential host.

The show - originally hosted by the late Jim Bowen - combined darts with quizzing and was a staple of ITV's schedules between 1981 and 1995.

According to The Sun, ITV is considering bringing back the show following the resurgence in the popularity of darts of late. Earlier this week, 16-year-old Luke Littler's participation in the PDC World Darts Championship final was watched by a record 4.8 million viewers.

"ITV is already in discussions to bring back Bullseye after this year's final drew in the event's highest viewership in history," a source told the newspaper. "It's early days, but ITV think it could be hugely successful.

"There are even plans to bring back the speedboat top prize - even if contestants live in a landlocked place, which often happened during Bullseye's heyday.

"They think Paddy, with his Lancashire roots like Jim, would be the perfect person to host."

The show was previously revived once, albeit briefly, by the Challenge channel in 2006.
