Strictly Come Dancing producers reportedly place Good Morning Britain weather presenters Alex Beresford and Laura Tobin on their list of potential contestants for this year.

Good Morning Britain weather presenters Alex Beresford and Laura Tobin are reportedly on the shortlist of potential contestants for this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC ballroom contest has a tradition of featuring GMB stars on the show, with the likes of Susanna Reid, Ranvir Singh, Charlotte Hawkins and Richard Arnold all having appeared in recent years.

According to The Sun, Strictly producers are in the process of forming their ideal celebrity lineup for this year and have listed GMB stalwarts Beresford - whose on-air spat with Piers Morgan led to the outspoken host's departure from the show last month - and Tobin as possibilities.

"Strictly bosses like having an ITV daytime star as they help with audience figures, being really well-known - viewers wake up to them every day," a source told the newspaper.

"Laura and Alex are well liked and would make good signings.

"It is still early in the process but both their names are in the mix."

The new series is due to begin on BBC One in late September.
