Keanu Reeves hails "beautiful" Matrix 4 script

Keanu Reeves says that "a beautiful script" persuaded him to return as Neo for The Matrix 4.

Keanu Reeves has revealed that "a beautiful script" convinced him to reprise his role as Neo for a new movie in The Matrix franchise.

The last of the original trilogy of movies, The Matrix Revolutions, was released in 2003 and creators Lily and Lana Wachowski were adamant that the film would mark the end of the saga.

Last summer it emerged that Lana had decided to write a script for The Matrix 4, however, with Reeves and co-star Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) signing up to appear.

Talking to Empire about the new film, Reeves revealed: "Lana Wachowski wrote a beautiful script and a wonderful story that resonated with me. That's the only reason to do it.

"To work with her again is just amazing. It's been really special, and the story has, I think, some meaningful things to say, and that we can take some nourishment from."

Scant details are known about the plotline of The Matrix 4, which is currently being filmed and is set for release in May 2021.
