Courteney Cox is reportedly in talks about appearing in the upcoming seventh Scream movie.

Courteney Cox has reportedly opened talks about appearing in the upcoming seventh movie in the Scream franchise.

The actress, who plays journalist Gale Weathers, is the only cast member to have appeared on-screen in all six previous films, with Neve Campbell missing Scream VI due to a pay disagreement.

Campbell has now signed a deal to return as Sidney Prescott in Scream VII, however, and Variety says that Cox could soon join her.

The project has been beset with difficulties so far, with Melissa Barrera being fired from the cast due to comments on the Israel-Hamas war and then Jenna Ortega dropping out a day later due to 'scheduling conflicts'.

Just before Christmas, director Christopher Landon revealed that he had quit the film, describing it as "a dream job that turned into a nightmare".

Kevin Williamson - the franchise's veteran screenwriter - has since replaced Landon in the role, with filming expected to begin this summer.
