Tom Clare says that he is "gutted" as he confirms his split from Love Island co-star Samie Elishi.

Love Island star Tom Clare has said that he is "gutted" to have split up with Samie Elishi just weeks after their time on the show ended.

The couple were together for much of the series and made it all the way through to the final, ultimately finishing in third place.

After they returned to the UK last month, however, they found that they could no longer make things work, making their split official this week.

"We are still on good terms and I have nothing but love and respect for her," Clare, a footballer for Macclesfield, told The Sun.

"I'm gutted it's come to an end but I truly wish Samie the best."

After the show ended Clare rejoined his teammates at Macclesfield, who went on to win the Northern Premier League West Division, earning promotion to the seventh tier of English football.
