BBC's Victoria Derbyshire joins I'm A Celebrity lineup?

BBC news presenter Victoria Derbyshire reportedly signs up for the new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

BBC journalist Victoria Derbyshire has reportedly become a surprise addition to the lineup for this year's series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The 52-year-old presented her own news-led programme on BBC Two for five years but it was axed earlier this year amid cost-cutting measures and since then she has anchored a new news programme in the same slot - broadcast on BBC Two and the BBC News channel, as well as internationally on BBC World.

Derbyshire has been a popular presenter on the BBC for years and earned plaudits for the documentation of her successful fight against breast cancer in 2015, which resulted in her having a single mastectomy.

"Victoria is always game for a challenge so when she was approached for I'm A Celebrity she jumped at the chance," a source told The Sun.

"It's always something she's wanted to do but because of her family she's never wanted to fly to Australia and be away from them for so long.

"When the show moved to Wales and the opportunity came up, she didn't want to look a gift horse in the mouth so said yes straight away.

"Victoria is really looking forward to the challenges and to getting started on the show."

Other celebrities thought to have been confirmed for the series, which begins next month, include former Strictly dancer AJ Pritchard, Coronation Street's Beverley Callard, TV presenter Vernon Kay and ex-EastEnders star Jessica Plummer.
