EastEnders executive producer Jon Sen promises a "fascinating turn of events" as the Gray storyline edges closer to his conclusion.

EastEnders executive producer Jon Sen has suggested that the writing is on the wall for Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) and that his storyline may finish soon.

Over the last year the character has killed three people - starting with his long-suffering wife Chantelle (Jessica Plummer), whom he pushed onto a knife in the dishwasher and left to die.

Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White) was next to go last Christmas, with Gray strangling her after she got close to the truth about Chantelle, then a couple of months later he pushed love rival Kush (Davood Ghadami) to his death on a tube track.

Speaking to press about upcoming storylines on the soap, Sen revealed that Gray's storyline will conclude with a "fascinating" twist of events.

"We've obviously got the culmination or we're building to the kind of culmination of the Gray storyline," he said.

"And that takes its kind of next chapter, I think, obviously, has been a very long story arc and it's taken many twists and turns.

"But we are kind of like you know, going back to the grass roots of the story really pivoting it back to, to its origins, and it's gonna be fascinating turn of events for the Atkins family."

Smith first appeared on the soap in March 2019.
