Blue Peter launches a Doctor Who competition alongside a new limited-edition 60th anniversary badge.

Blue Peter has produced a special Doctor Who-themed badge to celebrate the sci-fi show's 60th anniversary later this year.

David Tennant will return as The Doctor for three feature-length episodes in November - broadcast to mark 60 years since the first ever serial was broadcast in November 1963.

Blue Peter - itself a staple of the BBC schedules since 1958 - will be involved with the festivities and has launched a competition with the top prize of an exclusive tour of the TARDIS.

To enter, young viewers will need to send in their own fan art and explain why they deserve to win, with the top 500 entries all receiving the one-of-a-kind Doctor Who/Blue Peter badge.

"We're celebrating two 60th anniversaries this year, for Doctor Who and for the Blue Peter badge," said Ellen Evans, editor of Blue Peter.

"The two programmes have collaborated many times over the years so I'm thrilled to be able to offer such a unique and exciting experience."

Full details of how to enter the competition will be revealed on this week's edition of Blue Peter, airing Friday at 5pm on the CBBC channel.
