Charlie Lawson slams ITV's tribute to former Coronation Street co-star Johnny Briggs as "half assed".

Former Coronation Street star Charles Lawson has said that he was left 'disappointed' by ITV's tribute to the late Johnny Briggs on Monday night.

Briggs, who played Mike Baldwin on the soap for three decades, died last month at the age of 85 after what his family described as "a long illness".

ITV aired a half-hour tribute to Briggs on Monday, but friend Lawson - Jim McDonald on the soap - feels that it did not do justice to his lengthy career in the business pre and post-Corrie.

Writing on Twitter, he said: "Half a bloody hour and no mention of his movie career , apart from some half assed crap about Carry On movies. Very disappointing."

Briggs joined Corrie in 1976 but had been acting on the small and silver screens since the 1940s.
