GB News reveals programming lineup as launch draws near
GB News unveils some of the programmes in its lineup as its launch date inches closer.

GB News has announced the first details of its programming lineup as the channel's launch draws closer.

The new station - expected, but not yet confirmed, to launch on May 31 - has been steadily signing up presenters over the last few months and has now revealed some of the shows that will form part of the regular schedule.

The flagship show will be presented by channel chairman Andrew Neil and will air four nights a week in primetime and is called simply Andrew Neil.

Alastair Stewart & Friends promises to be "a warm conversation and analysis of current affairs", while Dan Wootton and Nana Akua will both host evening shows under the banner Tonight Live With....

Kirsty Gallacher is part of the team hosting at breakfast in a show called The Great British Breakfast and former BBC News Channel veteran Simon McCoy is teaming up with Alex Phillips for an afternoon show, while Colin Brazier will do likewise with Mercy Muroki.

Other programmes include Dewbs & Co. with Michelle Dewberry, Neil Oliver Live and Free Speech Nation from Andrew Doyle.

"We can sense a real hunger for something fresh and different in television news and debate," said John McAndrew, head of programming at GB News.

"It's humbling because we are a small start-up with a fraction of the resources of others, but what we lack in size we make up for in passion and determination to provide a welcoming home for honest British news and debate.

"All our presenters will have the freedom to say what they think, to have some fun and to be brave about covering the issues that really matter to the people of Britain."

The channel will be available almost universally from launch, with carriage on Freeview, Sky, Freesat, Virgin Media and Youview.
