Amazon Prime Video announces that it has secured the UK and Ireland rights to rugby union's Autumn Nations Series.

Amazon Prime Video has announced that it has secured the UK and Ireland broadcasting rights to rugby union's upcoming Autumn Nations Series.

Last year the countries involved in the Six Nations, as well as Fiji and Georgia, competed in the inaugural Autumn Nations Cup, which was forged amid the coronavirus pandemic in lieu of the regular Autumn Internationals.

The Autumn Internationals are now back under the reworked title of the Autumn Nations Series with a host of other countries, including South Africa, Australia, Japan and New Zealand, also taking part.

As part of what is thought to be a two-year deal, Prime Video will show all games involving England, Scotland, Wales, France and Italy in the UK this year, with Ireland's games included in 2022.

In Ireland, meanwhile, the service will stream all games except those involving the national team, where coverage will instead play out on RTE.

"We are delighted to be working with Prime Video again for the broadcast of the Autumn Nations Series," said Ben Morel, chief exec at Six Nations Rugby. "They were a fantastic partner last year and we share the same ambition to establish an exciting series that fans will engage with and enjoy.

"We have worked closely with all our Unions to agree a schedule of fixture that minimises overlaps making it possible for supporters in UK and Ireland to watch every single match from the home teams in a series that will showcase the best teams in the Northern Hemisphere against the best teams in the Southern Hemisphere, with Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa all featuring."

The Autumn Nations Series kicks off on Saturday, October 30 with Scotland, Tonga, Wales and New Zealand all in action.
