Britain's Dan Evans sets up Roger Federer third-round clash at Wimbledon

Britain's Dan Evans moves into a third-round clash against Roger Federer at Wimbledon with a straight-sets win over Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Dan Evans continues to fly the flag for Great Britain at Wimbledon as he has booked a spot in the third round for the first time in his career following a straight-sets win over Alexandr Dolgopolov.

In the next phase of the tournament, the 26-year-old will take on 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, who defeated Britain's Marcus Willis on Wednesday.

Rain has caused trouble to the schedule at the All England Club in the last few days, but Evans did not allow it to distract him as he sealed a 7-6(6) 6-4 6-1 win over the 30th seed.

Evans suffered a wobble in the first set when he was broken in his second service game, but he eventually broke back, forcing the clash into a tie-break.

The Brit nabbed it 8-6 and then carried his momentum into the second set as he swiftly earned a double break, and even though he dropped a service game, he had enough to double his lead.

It took just 26 minutes for Evans to complete the third set as Dolgopolov put a solitary game on the board.
