Roger Federer eases into fourth round of US Open

Roger Federer secures a comfortable win over Adrian Mannarino as he completes a three-set win in just an hour and 20 minutes to earn place in fourth round of the US Open.

Roger Federer booked his place in the fourth round of the US Open with a comfortable straight-sets victory over Adrian Mannarino.

The number seven seed was in imperious form from the off as he imposed himself on the Frenchman early on in the first set and earned the crucial break to take earn a 6-3 victory.

Federer was absolutely dominant in the second with some outstanding ground strokes that the Frenchman had no answer to as his serve collapsed, allowing the Swiss to take the set 6-0 in just 22 minutes.

By the third set the 32-year-old was in cruise mode as he his shots became more expansive as he wished to end the game in a hurry.

He was able to close out the set 6-2 with two more breaks as he hit 10 winners to advance to next round of the tournament with ease.
