British duo lose US Open qualifiers

British pair Dan Cox and Naomi Broady bow out in the first qualifying round for the US Open.

Daniel Cox and Naomi Broady have both suffered defeats in the US Open first qualifying round.

Neither of the British players has ever featured in a major tournament aside from Wimbledon and that run will continue for another year after they both lost in straight sets on Tuesday.

Cox, who is ranked 260 in the ATP world rankings, went down 6-3 6-3 to world number 109 Filip Krajinovic.

Broady, who reached the second round of SW19 earlier this year, lost two tie-break sets to American Tornado Alicia Black.
