Christina McHale stages comeback win to reach Mexican Open final

Christina McHale comes from a set down to defeat Caroline Garcia 3-6 6-2 7-5 in the semi-finals of the Mexican Open.

Christina McHale has come from a set down to defeat Caroline Garcia and reach the final of the Mexican Open.

The 24-year-old American got the better of her opponent 3-6 6-2 7-5 in the semi-finals on Friday.

Garcia was 4-1 up at one stage in the first set and eventually clinched it 6-3, but the Frenchwoman struggled in the second.

McHale surged to a 3-0 lead and never looked back, wrapping up the set 6-2.

Garcia appeared to have regained her rhythm in the third and decisive set as she took a quick 2-0 lead, but McHale once again staged a comeback to eventually claim it 7-5.

McHale will take on Dominika Cibulkova in the final.
