Kyle Edmund reaches European Open semi-finals

British number two Kyle Edmund reaches the European Open semi-finals with a straight-sets win over Andreas Seppi.

Kyle Edmund has moved a step closer to reaching his first-ever ATP Tour final by making his way through to the last four at the European Open.

Just 24 hours after edging a final-set tie-break with David Ferrer, the British number two registered a 6-3 6-4 win over Andreas Seppi.

The 21-year-old is bidding to end the year inside the world's top 40, and one break of serve in each set was enough to get the better of the experienced Italian.

Edmund - who faced just one break point in the 68-minute encounter in Antwerp - will now play Richard Gasquet for a place in Sunday's final.

The pair met at this year's US Open where Edmund raced to a comfortable victory, although Gasquet was struggling for fitness at the time of their meeting at Flushing Meadows.
