Peter Gojowczyk beats Dustin Brown in Qatar

Peter Gojowczyk progress to the semi-finals of the Qatar Open after recording a three-set win over Dustin Brown.

Peter Gojowczyk has defeated Dustin Brown in three sets to progress to the semi-finals of the Qatar Open.

The 24-year-old looked on course for a comfortable afternoon after taking the opening set, but despite a second-set fightback from Brown, he held on to earn an encounter with either Rafael Nadal or Ernest Gulbis.

The world number 162 defied eight aces from his opponent to earn the solitary break to move to within a set of the next round.

Brown responded in the second set to create eight break-point opportunities, but taking just one of those chances was enough to move the match into a decider.

The pair shared six breaks of serve in the final set, with Gojowczyk wasting one match point, but he kept his composure to win by a 3-6 6-3 7-6 scoreline.
