Julia Goerges has advanced into the third round of the Rome Open after overcoming Marion Bartoli 6-3 6-1.
It was the German who started the better and she secured an early break to move 2-0 ahead. Bartoli immediately responded with a break of her own, however, to level it at 2-2.
Goerges remained on serve for the rest of the set, breaking once to eventually claim it 6-3.
The second and final set proved to be much more straightforward for the German, as she broke her French opponent four times in a row on road to a 6-1 win.
