David Ferrer retains his ATP Copa Claro title in Argentina, beating Stanislas Wawrinka in a three-set final.

World number four David Ferrer has successfully defended his ATP Copa Claro title, beating Stanislas Wawrinka in Buenos Aires.

It is the Spaniard's second title this season and the 20th of his career.

Ferrer came through 6-4 3-6 6-1 against the third seed, improving his record this season to 17 wins from 19 matches.

Wawrinka is enjoying one of his best seasons too, having taken Novak Djokovic to within a point of defeat at the Australian Open and making his first tour final appearance since 2011.

He did not have enough against Ferrer, though, who now holds a 7-3 lead in the head-to-head between the two players.
