Dan Evans sees off Brydan Klein to reach Vancouver Challenger semi-finals

Dan Evans is through to the last four of the Vancouver Challenger after a three-set victory over fellow British representative Brydan Klein.

Dan Evans has recorded a three-set win over fellow British representative Brydan Klein to book his place in the semi-finals of the Vancouver Challenger.

Evans, who at one stage this year had slipped down to 772 in the world rankings, ran out a 7-6 6-7 6-0 winner against the British number six.

The Birmingham-born hitter had come through three qualifying rounds, defeated Radek Stepanek and saved five match points before beating Taro Daniel to reach the last eight, but it appeared as though he would have an easier time of it after taking the first set.

However, Klein improved during the second and after taking a tie-break 9-7, the signs were there that he had the momentum ahead of the decider.

Evans responded superbly, though, dropping just four points on the way to a bagel set to set up a last-four meeting with Australia's John-Patrick Smith.
