Roberto Bautista Agut annihilates Benjamin Becker with sub-hour win

Roberto Bautista Agut advances into the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters, hammering Benjamin Becker 6-0 6-2 in under an hour.

Roberto Bautista Agut dropped just two games as the Spaniard cruised into the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters by thumping Benjamin Becker this afternoon.

Bautista Agut, who turns 27 on Tuesday, gave himself an early birthday present by defeating the German 6-0 6-2 in only 53 minutes.

The world number 16, who has never progressed beyond round two in the Principality, inflicted three breaks of serve in a first set that was won in just 19 minutes.

He looked on course for a whitewash after winning the first four games of the second set.

However, Becker, rated 45th in the world, offered some sign of life when he broke his Spanish counterpart to make it 4-1 and won the next game to boost his feint hopes of a comeback.

It only delayed the inevitable, though, as Bautista Agut comfortably won the next two games to seal his place in the next phase.
