Result: Juan Martin del Potro moves past Marin Cilic in Paris

Juan Martin del Potro books his place in the third round of the Paris Masters thanks to a 6-4 7-6(3) win over Marin Cilic.

Juan Martin del Potro has made it into the third round of the Paris Masters thanks to a straight-sets win over Marin Cilic.

Despite failing to convert three break points early in the first set, the fourth seed went on to close it out 6-4 against the Croatian.

Del Potro was on top for much of the second, but he failed to capitalise on another six break points as Cilic fought back.

Cilic brought up a set point as he attempted to level the contest, only for Del Potro to hold on and force a tie-break.

The Argentine then sealed his place in the next round by clinching the tie-break 7-3 in comfortable fashion.
