Roberto Bautista Agut seals Monte Carlo progress with dramatic win

Roberto Bautista Agut saves three match points to beat Philipp Kohlschreiber in round two of the Monte Carlo Masters.

Roberto Bautista Agut has fought his way into round three of the Monte Carlo Masters with a dramatic three-set victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber.

The Spaniard opened up a 4-1 lead during the first set as he took firm control of the match. However, Kohlschreiber managed to fight back before winning the tie-break 7-3.

Bautista Agut came flying out of the traps again at the start of the second, moving 5-1 up, but this time he was not to be denied and closed it out 6-3 to level the contest.

Kohlschreiber looked like he was going to advance when he had three match points in the decider after breaking to take a 5-4 lead, only for Bautista Agut to mount a superb comeback to force a tie-break.

Both players struggled to hold serve in the breaker, though it was 12th seed Bautista Agut who eventually won it 7-4 to give himself a 6-7(3) 6-3 7-6(4) triumph.
