Milos Raonic sees off Tommy Robredo to reach Indian Wells quarter-finals

Milos Raonic beats Tommy Robredo 6-3 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

Milos Raonic has progressed into the quarter-finals of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells by beating Tommy Robredo in straight sets.

The Canadian took just one hour and six minutes to dispatch his Spanish opponent.

There was little to separate the two players in the opening stages of the match, with both holding serve. However, Raonic broke in the sixth game on his way to establishing a three-game lead. He maintained his advantage for the remainder of the set, serving it out 6-3.

Robredo began the second set poorly as he allowed Raonic to break in the very first game, before the world number six held his serve to move two games ahead.

Robredo struggled to fight back against his opponent and Raonic broke again in the seventh game to go 5-2 up, before serving out the set 6-2 to book his spot in the last eight of the tournament.
