Rafael Nadal breezes into French Open final

Ten-time winner Rafael Nadal breezes into the French Open final with a comfortable victory over Juan Martin del Potro.

Rafael Nadal has booked his place in the French Open final with a straight-sets victory over Juan Martin del Potro.

Nadal is attempting to win at Roland Garros for the 11th time, and the legendary Spaniard is only one more win away after easing past Del Potro by a 6-4 6-1 6-2 scoreline.

The opening nine games of the contest were competitive but Del Potro could not force a break and after missing six opportunities, the Argentine succumbed on his own delivery to concede the set.

From then onwards, it was one-way traffic as Del Potro started to feel the effects of an energy-sapping win over Marin Cilic in the last eight.

Nadal proceeded to register four more breaks of serve to seal the win in two hours and 14 minutes, which sets up a showdown with Dominic Thiem.

Earlier on Friday, Thiem got the better of Italy's Marco Cecchinato.
