John Isner sails into the French Open second round after completing a straight-sets victory over Rogerio Dutra Silva.

John Isner has progressed into the second round of the French Open after overcoming Rogerio Dutra Silva 6-3 6-4 6-4.

The American pro started off brightly on Court 2, managing to hold his serve and snatch vital breaks from his Brazilian opponent.

While Silva tried to make an impact on the clash, it was the 27-year-old who took control of the clay court and claim a one-set advantage in Paris.

Isner continued his dominance in the second set and while Silva committed a number of effective backhand shots, the 27-year-old American remained composed and claimed the second set 6-4.

While Silva attempted to launch a comeback and was close to forcing through a fourth set, Isner proved too much for the Brazilian and comfortably booked a place in the second round of the tournament.
