Marin Cilic races into third round at French Open

Marin Cilic makes no mistake in his second-round meeting against Andrea Arnaboldi, coming out on top in straight sets to progress.

Marin Cilic has navigated his way into the third round of the French Open by seeing off Andrea Arnaboldi in straight sets.

The ninth seed battled past a tough start to the contest, eventually coming through a tie-break to take the opener, before wrapping the match up in a straightforward manner thereafter.

With things going the way of serve throughout the first set, it was Cilic who prevailed 7-3 to edge out his world number 187 opponent.

Cilic took the second set 6-1, holding his serve throughout once again, before doing likewise in the third and final set to record an identical scoreline and advance through 7-6(3) 6-1 6-1.

The Croatian will now face either Jerzy Janowicz or Leonardo Mayer in the next round.
