Lithuania's Olympic champion Ruta Meilutyte comfortably reaches the semi-finals of the women's 100m breaststroke at the World Championships in Kazan.

Lithuanian Olympic gold medallist Ruta Meilutyte had no concerns as she eased her way into the semi-finals of the women's 100m breaststroke at the World Championships in Kazan this morning.

The 18-year-old, who holds the world record of 1:04.35 in this event, launched into the seventh heat with a deep dive.

The Plymouth-based swimmer led the way from start to finish, but eased up in the final 10m to touch the wall first in 1:06.75.

Meilutyte, who won Olympic gold at London 2012, was the fourth quickest overall, with Russia's Yuliya Efimova topping the qualifying sheet with a time of 1:06.31.
