Harlequins survive Sale Sharks comeback

Harlequins clinch a 25-23 win over Sale Sharks in the Aviva Premiership despite a second-half comeback from the home side.

Harlequins held on to secure a 25-23 win over Sale Sharks in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon, despite the hosts scoring three second-half tries.

The visitors took charge early on as Charlie Walker sprinted forward to add the opening try of the match inside the first five minutes.

Chris Robshaw, Marland Yarde and Danny Care all went over as well for Harlequins before the interval as the away side continued to dominate.

A couple of first-half penalties from Danny Cipriani kept Sale in contention, though, and they were handed a lifeline when Dave Ward was sent to the sin bin early in the second half, allowing Tom Arscott to cross the line.

Arscott added his second inside the final 10 minutes, while Mark Cueto also powered over to cut the gap to just two points, but Joe Ford missed the conversions to both, leaving Sale to fall just short.

The result leaves Harlequins eighth in the table, one place behind Sale in seventh.
