Wigan Warriors score nine tries in easy win over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats

Wakefield Wildcats concede 50 points against a rampant Wigan Warriors in a 52-10 defeat.

Wigan Warriors have thrashed Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 52-10, as they scored nine tries in the Super League tonight.

The home side made a fast start, as Joe Burgess offloaded to Liam Farrell to score the game's first try deep in the corner after three minutes.

Matty Smith successfully kicked a penalty to add two more to the score, before Tony Clubb weaved past two defenders to score his side's second.

The Warriors extended their lead through Dominic Manfredi's try, before Wakefield hit back through Chris Riley's score in the corner.

However, Wakefield continued to struggle defensively as a weak pass was intercepted by Anthony Gelling, and he scored his side's fourth.

Manfredi and Gelling were too hot for the Wildcats to handle and they combined for Wigan's fifth after the break, which Manfredi neatly finished.

Paul McShane gave Wakefield a glimmer of hope with a try from close range, but Wigan quickly added two more tries through Lee Mossop and Farrell.

They reached 50 points late in the game as Gelling scored his second and Manfredi completed his hat-trick.
