Weakened Wakefield Trinity Wildcats lose to St Helens

St Helens secure a comfortable 26-12 win over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats lost 26-12 at home to a strong St Helens side in their Super League clash.

St Helens raced into a first-half lead at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and continued their dominance throughout the match, as they ran out comfortable 26-12 winners against a weak Wakefield Wildcats side.

Anthony Laffranchi scored a try in the opening two minutes of the match and further tries from Adam Swift and Sia Soliola followed before the interval.

Reece Lyne's try for the home side was converted by Lee Smith as the klaxon sounded to give his side something to build upon in the second half.

However, Jonny Lomax extended the visitors' lead with the second half less than 10 minutes old.

Minutes later Kyle Amor's try dragged the home side back into the game, but Lance Hohaia collected Lomax's offload and crossed under the posts with ease to ensure a comfortable win for St Helens.
