Bet365 Grand National analysis (Saturday, 4 pm)
The 34-runner field is set and the market has taken shape. I Am Maximus heads the betting at 7/1. The 2024 winner and last year’s runner-up carries top weight off 168 with Paul Townend confirmed in the saddle. He handles Aintree better than most things in the race, but that weight is a genuine question.
Grangeclare West (9/1) and Jagwar (10/1) are next. Panic Attack (12/1) has been one of the busiest and most consistent horses in training this season. Bet365 have boosted her to 10/1 today (was 17/2), and with a £10 stake returning £110, she’s clearly attracting attention. Dan Skelton’s yard is hard to oppose in big-field festival handicaps.
Johnnywho (14/1) won the Cheltenham Ultima on his first run back from a wind operation. Gerri Colombe (28/1) and Gorgeous Tom (25/1) are among the longer-priced runners with Top 6 Finish boosts available, reflecting the value in the each-way market with 6 places being paid.
Bet365’s own tipster Phill Anderson, who landed five each-way winners at double-figure prices across Cheltenham Festival week, is also covering today’s Aintree card. His selections include El Fabiolo at 5/1 in the 16:05 Aintree Hurdle, where he argues Willie Mullins’ horse retains plenty of ability having reverted to hurdles this season, and Gracchus De Balme at 20/1 in the 15:30 Foxhunters’, a horse who won the race last year and gets five places paid by bet365.
