Norwich City's Kyle Lafferty fined £23,000 for breaking FA's betting rules

Norwich City forward Kyle Lafferty is fined £23,000 and warned after breaking the FA's betting rules.

Norwich City forward Kyle Lafferty has been fined £23,000 by the Football Association for breaking betting rules.

The 29-year-old was charged with misconduct a fortnight ago over a bet that he placed on February 20.

Today, the English governing body announced that Lafferty has accepted the charge and as punishment has been hit with a fine and a warning.

A statement from the FA read: "The Norwich City forward breached FA Rule E8 in respect of a bet placed on the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of, or occurrence in, a football match or competition on February 20, 2016."

Lafferty returned to Norwich this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at Birmingham City.
