Eddie Hearn expects Carl Froch, George Groves fight to make in excess of £10m

Promoter Eddie Hearn believes that the Carl Froch and George Groves rematch at Wembley could generate in excess of £10m.

Promoter Eddie Hearn believes that the British super-middleweight rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves could generate in excess of £10m in revenue.

Both parties eventually agreed a rematch after November's controversial ninth-round stoppage, which resulted in Froch retaining his WBA and IBF titles.

It has now been confirmed that the bout will take place at Wembley Stadium on May 31, making the fight the first boxing contest to be staged at the London venue since 2007.

"I think this fight can do in excess of £10m in revenue," Hearn told BBC Radio Five Live. "You are driven by pay-per-view buys and bums on seats.

"I think that Mayweather-Hatton is the record in pay-per-view terms and that was at four in the morning UK time. I think we can break that."

The Etihad Stadium, City Ground and Old Trafford were all touted as possible venues for the rematch.
