Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has been awarded £188,250 in damages from Mirror Group Newspapers in relation to the phone-hacking scandal.
The 47-year-old, who played for numerous clubs in his career including Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, was one of eight individuals who have received payouts.
According to BBC News, London's High Court awarded compensation to celebrities Shane Richie, Sadie Frost, Lucy Benjamin and Shobna Gulati, as well as TV producer Robert Ashworth, creative director Alan Yentob and flight attendant Lauren Alcorn, who allegedly had a relationship with former England footballer Rio Ferdinand.
Overall, £1.2m was paid out following a three-week hearing in March involving newspapers The Mirror, the Sunday Mirror and the People.
During the hearing two months ago, Gascoigne accused the phone-hackers of 'ruining' his life.
