Police 'on alert for drones ahead of Manchester derby at Etihad Stadium'

Greater Manchester Police are reportedly on alert for drones flying over the Etihad Stadium during this Sunday's local derby against Manchester United.

Greater Manchester Police will reportedly be on alert for drones flying over the Etihad Stadium during this Sunday's derby between Manchester City and Manchester United.

Drones have made the news in recent weeks - earlier this month, the Euro 2016 qualifier between Serbia and Albania was abandoned when a drone carrying an Albanian flag caused a brawl between players.

On English shores, around a fortnight ago, a man was reportedly arrested after flying a drone over the Etihad during City's 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

According to the Daily Mail, around 400 officers will be used for the derby and due to the intense rivalry, police will be on alert for drones.

City are currently four points above United in the Premier League table.
