Manchester City players highest paid in world sport

Manchester City's first-team players are the highest paid in world sport, according to a survey by Sporting Intelligence.

Manchester City's players receive the highest wages in world sport, a new survey has revealed.

Sporting Intelligence have discovered that City's first-team stars earn an average salary of £5.337m per year, which relates to £102,634-a-week in wages.

Baseball teams the New York Yankees and LA Dodgers were placed next in the list, while City's rivals Manchester United are sixth with an average wage of £4.322m per year.

Chelsea complete the Premier League contingent in the top 10 of the earners list by residing ninth with an annual wage of £3.984m.

Meanwhile, City could be hit with a transfer ban should they be found guilty by UEFA of breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
