Tesco takes dig at Liverpool on Twitter as Chelsea joke backfires

Tesco's Twitter account mocks Liverpool's lack of Premier League trophies after a fan's joke about Chelsea backfires.

A Liverpool fan's swipe at Chelsea on Twitter backfired when Tesco's official account mocked the Reds' lack of Premier League silverware.

Reds supporter @Morenology tweeted the supermarket chain complaining about some cheese that he bought.

When asked by Tesco if the customer could explain the issue, the Liverpool fan wrote: "Well, I opened the packet to find half of the Chelsea FC fanbase! Very plasticy, it had a rent boy whiff too."

In response, one of Tesco's social media workers Mike wrote: "Oh dear, I'd like to make a note of this issue. Can I take your title please? Or do you not have one..."

Last month, the supermarket had a joke with Twitter account @DeludedBrendan by mocking Liverpool's pursuit of Southampton players.
