Arsenal make a player-plus-cash bid for Leicester City playmaker James Maddison, according to a report.

Arsenal have reportedly approached Leicester City with a player-plus-cash offer for James Maddison.

With the Gunners seemingly set to concede defeat in their pursuit of Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard, Maddison is now rumoured to be Mikel Arteta's number one creative target.

However, the Foxes would supposedly demand £70m in straight cash to offload the 24-year-old, while Brendan Rodgers has affirmed that Leicester have no need to sell their most prized assets.

Despite Rodgers's comments, football.london reports that Arsenal have now made an approach for Maddison and have offered an unnamed player in an attempt to drive the price down.

The report adds that negotiations are still moving very slowly, but Maddison would be keen to make the switch to North London should Arsenal reach an agreement with Leicester.

The former Norwich City playmaker ended the 2020-21 season with 11 goals and 10 assists from 42 games in all tournaments, and he played the final 23 minutes of his side's FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.
